What is Lent?

Lent is a sacred season in the Christian calendar and a time of reflection, prayer, and fasting. It runs 40 days from Ash Wednesday to Easter Sunday, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. For many, itโ€™s a time to draw closer to God through self-denial, acts of charity, and spiritual disciplines. One of the most common practices during Lent is to give up certain foods, especially meat, on Fridays and sometimes throughout the season. The Tradition of Fasting in Lent
