Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Bold, zesty, and packed with flavor.
  • Alcohol-free and family-friendly.
  • Made with simple, whole food ingredients.
  • Customizable to your heat preference.
  • Refreshing and perfect for warm days.
  • This mocktail is Daniel Fast approved, because it's made with whole plant foods, and can become part of your clean eating routine after the fast.

Health Benefits

  • Unlike traditional margaritas loaded with sugar and booze, this mocktail is hydrating, low in calories, and made with fresh lime juice, orange juice, green grapes, and pineapple for a burst of vitamin C.
  • Vitamin C is known for its strong antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. Our orange juice mocktail and grapefruit mocktail are also high in vitamin C.
  • The jalapeño adds a metabolism-boosting kick and may contain compounds that support weight loss.
  • Sparkling water aids digestion and adds that bubbly cocktail-like texture, all with no artificial sweeteners.
  • Enjoying this margarita mocktail with some homemade guacamole or healthy girl dinner will enhance the antioxidant benefits by adding some vitamin E.

What's in This Margarita Mocktail

Ingredients for the mocktail: grapes, pineapple, lime juice, orange juice, and jalapeno.
  1. Frozen seedless green grapes: A brilliant addition that chills your drink and acts as nature’s sweetener. These little gems offer a burst of cool, juicy sweetness while also adding texture and fiber.
  2. Fresh lime juice: Tangy, citrusy, and refreshing, lime juice brings that signature margarita bite. It also delivers a hefty dose of vitamin C.
  3. Jalapeño: Offers a fiery kick. You can scale the heat up or down, but this spicy element plays beautifully against the citrus and sweet notes.

A full ingredient list with exact amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Substitutions and Variations

  • For a non-spicy variation, omit the jalapeno and replace it with mint or basil for a herbaceous twist.
  • For a less spicy version, remove all the seeds from the jalapeno before blending.
  • Swap the sparkling water with coconut water for more electrolytes.
  • Add a slice or two of avocado for a smoother and creamier mocktail. You may also enjoy our frozen margarita mocktail, which is similar to a soft serve dessert.
  • If you don't have frozen grapes or frozen pineapple, you may need to add some ice cubes to give it a chill.

Expert Tips

  1. Frozen green grapes are the secret weapon: they chill your drink without diluting it like ice would and add pops of juicy texture.
  2. Always choose fresh-squeezed lime for the most vibrant flavor; whenever possible, opt for fresh juice over bottled.
  3. For more lime flavor, top with a pinch of lime zest.
  4. Add more jalapeno seeds for a spicier kick.
  5. If you're batch-making these for a party, keep the spicy margarita mixture separate from the sparkling water. Combine just before serving.

Recipe FAQs

How do I store leftovers?

Store the spicy margarita mocktail mixture separately from the sparkling water in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. When ready to enjoy, give it a good shake or stir, and then add sparkling water and ice.

Can you make a margarita without alcohol?

Yes! A margarita mocktail uses lime and orange juice with other flavorful ingredients to recreate the taste of a margarita, without the alcohol.

What is a good non-alcoholic substitute for tequila?

Fresh lime juice and a hint of spice, such as jalapeño, give your mocktail a bold, tangy flavor profile. Some use non-alcoholic spirits, but they’re not necessary for great taste.
