Frequently Asked Questions
Mocktails are nonalcoholic versions of cocktails. Many are made with juice and replacements for alcohol, including sparkling water like this grapefruit mocktail.
It all depends on the ingredients used to make the mocktail. Some mocktail recipes have added sugar or chemicals, like sugar-sweetened soft drinks or "diet" soft drinks. These ingredients add calories or chemicals and lack nutrients. However, this grapefruit mocktail recipe is healthy because of the high amount of vitamin C. Vitamin C is an antioxidant shown to stop free radicals and help with collagen production for skin health. Vitamin C can also boost immunity.
Eating grapefruit or drinking grapefruit juice can alter certain medications. If you're taking medications, such as statin (cholesterol-lowering), blood pressure lowering, and antiarrhythmic drugs, consuming grapefruit can increase the side effects of these and other medications. So, be sure to check with your healthcare provider before consuming grapefruit. Check out this video, "Tell Your Doctor if You Eat Grapefruit," to learn more.
