The Best Tahini Pasta Sauce is absolutely a gamechanger! It's loaded with flavor, oil-free and gluten-free. Not only is it amazing on pasta, like penne or spaghetti, but it works beautifully as a "cheese" sauce on lasagna and pizza. In fact, I even enjoy dipping my pizza crust in a bowl of this deliciousness.
This tahini pasta sauce is made from six key ingredients. It's a close cousin to Epic Tahini Garlic Lemon Sauce, and a distant cousin (but still related) to the Best Garlic Hummus. Depending on the plant-based milk you use this yummy sauce can also be soy-free or nut-free.
Key ingredients in tahini pasta sauce
- Tahini
- Garlic
- Coconut aminos
- Lemon
- Unsweetened, plain plant-based milk (I used soy, but almond milk works too)
- Nutritional yeast
How to make tahini pasta sauce
Add all the ingredients (tahini, garlic, lemon juice, nutritional yeast, coconut aminos and unsweetened plant based milk) into a mini blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Use immediately or transfer to a mason jar or other container with a tight fitting lid and store in the refrigerator for up to five days.
What does tahini sauce go with?
This sauce goes beautifully with any pasta dish, like the Simple Tahini Pasta recipe,ย and a tahini cheese sauce forย Lasagna. While it's wonderful with just pasta and fresh herbs, it also makes a nice topping for drizzle on your favorite in-season and year-round veggies, like kale, sundried tomatoes, and summer squash.
Nutritional Benefits of Tahini
Tahini is a powerhouse of nutrition. Itโs rich in healthy fats, especially monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which are good for heart health. Itโs also a good source of plant-based protein, making it an excellent addition to vegan and vegetarian diets. Tahini is high in vitamins and minerals, including calcium, magnesium, and iron, which are essential for bone health and energy production. Additionally, tahini contains antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and support overall health.
Tahini sauce also goes great on pizza, such as the Mediterranean Pizza and Veggie Pizza for One. You can use it as a cheese sauce you drizzle on top of your pie before baking, or as a pizza dipping sauce after it's cooked. Either way, it's very tasty.
