This Vegan BBQ Sauce is sweet and smoky. The cayenne gives this sauce the perfect amount of heat. It's fast and easy to prepare and goes great with BBQ Tempeh Tacos, tofu, soy curls, veggie burgers, and grilled veggies. It's gluten-free, oil-free, soy free, nut-free, and there's no added sugar.

What you need to make this vegan BBQ sauce

  1. Tomato sauce
  2. Apple cider vinegar
  3. Simple Homemade Date Syrup (danielsplate.com)
  4. Liquid smoke
  5. Smoked paprika
  6. Garlic powder
  7. Black pepper
  8. Onion powder
  9. Cayenne (or crushed red pepper flakes for heat)

How to make this sauce

Put all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Whisk until well incorporated. Cook over medium-high until the sauce reaches a gentle boil. Then reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 15 minutes or until the sauce slightly thickens.

Enjoy immediately, or let it cool to room temperature and store the sauce in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.

Summertime screams for grilling, but fortunately, grilling need not only take place June to September. While growing up, I mostly used a charcoal grill, which was a hot mess. Thanks to the growth in propane grills and grill pans you can use on the stovetop, I find grilling with these techniques to be faster and more convenient. Regardless of the season, this BBQ sauce is a great staple. Check out Sersie's All American Bowl with BBQ soy curls.
