Substitutions and Variations
- Prefer another plant-based milk? You can use another plant-based milk of your choosing. I like the richness of soy, and it adds 8 grams of plant-based protein.
- Want it stronger? Steep the chai tea for longer or use 2 bags.
- Spice level: Adjust pumpkin pie spice to taste or add extra cinnamon or ginger if you like it bold.
- Doing the Daniel Fast? To make this latte compliant with the Daniel Fast, use herbal Rooibos Chai instead of traditional black tea chai (which contains caffeine). Also, instead of maple syrup, use our Homemade Date Syrup.
How to Make This Pumpkin Spice Chai Latte at Home

Step 1
Put the chai tea bag into a mug and pour just enough boiling hot water to cover it (about ¼ cup should do it). Use a small spoon to keep the tea bag submerged in the hot water. Steep the tea for 5-7 minutes.

Step 2
While the tea is steeping, add the soy milk, pumpkin puree, pumpkin pie spice, and maple syrup to a small pot.

Step 3
Whisk to combine while heating on medium-low to medium heat. You want it warm or simmering but not boiling.

Step 4
Remove the tea bag from the mug and squeeze out any excess water from the tea bag. Then, carefully pour the pumpkin spice latte mixture from the small pot into the mug with the chai tea and stir to combine.

Step 5
For a frothy latte, take the remaining ¼ cup of soy milk and, using a frother wand or a milk frother and steamer, froth until light and foamy. Carefully pour the remaining frothed soy milk on top of the latte, and enjoy!
