Why You'll Love This Recipe

  • Naturally Sweet & Creamy: Thanks to blueberries and pure maple syrup, this drink is lightly sweetened without added sugars. It pairs beautifully with something savory like our Matcha Hummus on toast.
  • Layered & Lovely: Like the Strawberry Matcha Latte, the visual layers of green and purple make this latte a treat for the eyes and tastebuds.
  • Plant-Based & Nourishing: Made with non-dairy milk, it fits perfectly into a Daniel Fast or vegan lifestyle. We love pairing it with Matcha Pancakes or Matcha Overnight Oats for breakfast.

Nutritional Benefits of This Blueberry Matcha Latte

This drink is not only delicious but deeply nourishing. Blueberries are packed with vitamin C, fiber, and antioxidants that support immune and brain health. Matcha offers a gentle caffeine boost and contains L-theanine, an amino acid that promotes focus and a sense of calm energy. Blended with plant-based milk, this drink is a great way to start your day or replace your afternoon coffee. Like our Banana Milk Latte, this latte demonstrates that you can nourish your body while still enjoying something tasty and enjoyable.

What Goes into This Recipe

A bowl of blueberries, cup of plant based milk, a bowl of matcha powder and a bowl of maple syrup.
  • Blueberries: Naturally sweet and rich in antioxidants, they give the latte a vibrant purple hue and fruity base that balances the earthy matcha.
  • Unsweetened Plant-Based Milk: I used soy milk, but almond, oat, or coconut milk also works. It adds a smooth, creamy texture that ties the flavors together without overpowering the berries or matcha.
  • Pure Maple Syrup: Just a touch of this natural sweetener enhances the flavor of the blueberries and softens the bitterness of the matcha, creating a well-rounded sip.
  • Matcha Green Tea Powder: Delivers a clean, gentle energy boost with grassy undertones that complement the sweetness of the berries beautifully.

A complete list of ingredients with exact amounts can be found in the recipe card below.

Tips and Variations

  • Iced Version: Add ice before the matcha layer for a refreshingly cool drink.
  • Boost Nutrition: Stir in a scoop of hemp or chia seeds.
  • Flavor Variations: Swap blueberries with blackberries or peaches.
  • Sweetness Swap: Replace maple syrup with our date syrup recipe.

Pro Tips

  • Use Fresh or Thawed Blueberries: Frozen blueberries work beautifully, just thaw them first to avoid a slushy texture and ensure a smooth blend.
  • Sift Your Matcha: For a lump-free, silky layer, sift the matcha powder before blending. This helps it dissolve more easily and creates a frothier finish.
  • Chill Ingredients for an Iced Version: If you’re serving this cold, use chilled milk and berries, and pour over ice for a super refreshing summer sip.
  • Layer Slowly: To achieve that eye-catching two-tone look, pour the matcha mixture slowly over the back of a spoon onto the blueberry layer.
  • Adjust Sweetness Naturally: If your blueberries are extra ripe, you may need less maple syrup. Taste as you go!

What To Eat With This Blueberry Matcha Latte

Whether you’re sipping this blueberry matcha latte for breakfast, a mid-morning boost, or an afternoon pick-me-up, it pairs beautifully with light, nutrient-dense recipes that won’t overpower its fruity, earthy flavor.

  • Keep the matcha theme going with these fluffy, green tea–infused Matcha Pancakes. They’re subtly sweet and pair wonderfully with the berry-forward notes in the latte.
  • Our Overnight Oats with Berries have a creamy texture and an antioxidant-rich profile, making them a perfect complement to the blueberry base of the latte, while offering fiber and omega-3s.
  • If you're craving something savory, the fresh herbs and healthy fats in the Pesto Avocado Toast balance out the sweetness of the drink, creating a complete and satisfying morning meal.
  • For a refreshing lunch, pair it with our Asian Salad in a Jar. This crunchy, tangy salad brings in vibrant texture and flavor without clashing with the latte’s subtle layers.

Recipe FAQs

Is matcha caffeinated?

Yes, but it provides a calm, sustained alertness thanks to L-theanine.

Can I make this ahead of time?

Prepare layers separately and refrigerate up to 24 hours, and then pour together before drinking.

What matcha should I buy?

Ceremonial-grade is ideal for lattes; culinary-grade works fine if you prefer a bold flavor.

Indulge in a delicious blueberry matcha latte, a vibrant blend of flavors that fuels your body naturally and satisfyingly.

Equipment

  • 1 mini bullet blender

Ingredients

  • 1 cup blueberries
  • 1 cup soy milk (or subsitute with another plant-based milk)
  • 2 tsp pure maple syrup
  • ½ tsp matcha green tea powder ceremonial or culinary grade
Prevent your screen from going dark

Instructions

  • In a personal bullet blender cup, blend the blueberries, ½ cup of plant-based milk, and maple syrup until you get a smooth purée. Pour the blueberry mixture into a tall glass.
  • Give the blender cup a quick rinse and then add the rest of the milk and matcha green tea. Blend the matcha mixture until smooth and creamy.
  • Carefully add the matcha green tea mixture to the glass with the blueberry mixture.
  • Gently stir for a pretty swirl effect. Sip and enjoy!

Notes

  1. If you're using fresh blueberries, add ice to your glass for chill. Either way, blend blueberries well to ensure a silky-smooth purée.
  2. Choose a good quality matcha. Look for ceremonial grade or culinary grade matcha with a vibrant green color for the best flavor and health benefits.
  3. Try mixing up the flavors like blackberries and pineapple or kiwi. Be sure to check out our Mango Matcha Latte.
  4. If you have any leftover matcha latte, store it in an airtight container, like a mason jar, in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
