This Vegan BBQ Sauce is sweet and smoky. The cayenne gives this sauce the perfect amount of heat. It's fast and easy to prepare and goes great with BBQ Tempeh Tacos, tofu, soy curls, veggie burgers, and grilled veggies. It's gluten-free, oil-free, soy free, nut-free, and there's no added sugar.

What you need to make this vegan BBQ sauce
- Tomato sauce
- Apple cider vinegar
- Simple Homemade Date Syrup (danielsplate.com)
- Liquid smoke
- Smoked paprika
- Garlic powder
- Black pepper
- Onion powder
- Cayenne (or crushed red pepper flakes for heat)
How to make this sauce
Put all ingredients into a medium saucepan. Whisk until well incorporated. Cook over medium-high until the sauce reaches a gentle boil. Then reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for 15 minutes or until the sauce slightly thickens.

Ingredients
- 1 15- oz can tomato sauce
- ½ cup apple cider vinegar
- ¾ cup Simple Homemade Date Syrup
- 3 Tbsp coconut aminos
- 1 ½ tsp liquid smoke
- 1 tsp smoked paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- ½ tsp fresh ground black pepper
- ½ tsp onion powder
- ⅛ tsp cayenne pepper or crushed red pepper flakes for heat
