This tasty Golden Latte is a rich, creamy, and spicy treat. You'll feel wrapped in a warm blanket, sipping this comforting, healing latte. It's also oil-free, gluten-free, and vegan.

When I drink this beautiful latte, I do it slowly to savor and enjoy. This Golden Latte is luxurious because it's rich and creamy, especially with unsweetened soymilk or homemade unsweetened Almond Milk.

So, which milk should you use? Indeed, if you have a nut allergy, go with the soymilk. Or, if you have a soy allergy, go with almond milk. But if allergens are not a concern, go with whatever you have on hand or are curious to try. Both kinds of milk are delicious in this latte.

What you need to make this delicious golden latte

  1. Unsweetened soymilk (or unsweetened homemade almond milk)
  2. Cinnamon
  3. Simple Homemade Date Syrup
  4. Fresh turmeric
  5. Fresh ginger root
  6. Black pepper

How to prepare

Place all ingredients into a small pot on the stovetop.

Use a whisk to stir and incorporate all the ingredients.

Over medium heat, bring to a simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are golden lattes good for you?

The ingredients will determine if there are health benefits to drinking the golden latte. This golden latte recipe has no added coconut oil, which is high in saturated fat. Saturated fat has been shown to be a culprit in elevating LDL (bad) cholesterol levels. Added fat also increases calorie density, which can thwart weight loss efforts. But this recipe uses soymilk, which is associated with reducing cholesterol levels and is high in protein. Also, this golden latte recipe is healing due to curcumin in turmeric, which has been shown to reduce inflammation enhanced by adding black pepper. Curcumin has also been associated with improved brain health.

Does golden latte have coffee in it?

No. This latte is caffiene-free.

Can I drink this latte iced?

Absolutely! Allow the latte to cool to lukewarm or room temperature, and then pour it over ice.

Ingredients  

  • 1 ¼ cup plain unsweetened soy milk or homemade almond milk
  • 1 tsp grated fresh ginger root
  • 1 tsp fresh grated fresh turmeric root or ¼ tsp dry ground turmeric
  • 1-3 tsp Simple Homemade Date Syrup for sweetness
  • ⅛ tsp ground cinnamon
  • pinch of black pepper

  • Grate ginger root and *turmeric root using a microplane grater. 
  • Place all ingredients into a small pot on the stovetop.
  • Use a whisk to stir and incorporate all the ingredients.
  • Over medium heat, bring to a simmer for 2 to 3 minutes.
  • Carefully pour the heated golden milk latte into your favorite mug through a fine mesh strainer, and enjoy!

Notes

*Don't have fresh turmeric? You can substitute with a ¼ teaspoon of dry ground turmeric.
