Easy Homemade Pizza Sauce

Description

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups crushed tomatoes*
  • 4 to 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fennel seed
  • 1/4 cup of sundried tomatoes (no oil), diced
  • 1 tsp Simple Homemade Date Syrup

Optional

  • 1/8 tsp of crushed red pepper for heat

*a 15-oz weight can will yield about 1 1/2 cups of crushed tomatoes

 


Instructions

  1. Combine all ingredients into a small pot.
  2. Bring the sauce to a gentle boil over medium-high heat.
  3. Reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes. If the sauce is splattering, partially cover with a lid.
  4. Remove from heat and use for your pizza or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.

Leftover homemade pizza sauce can also be stored in the freezer for up to 6 months. You can also use the leftover sauce in a single-serve pasta dish with some veggies for a quick, easy spaghetti dinner.
